The book of Esther is a fascinating book in the Bible that is pregnant with lessons and principles that are relevant to our personal and spiritual growth.
In the story, we witness a young woman called Esther go from being a nonentity, to becoming a beloved queen whom God used to save an entire generation.
Esther, a Jewish orphan, was one of the many beautiful young women of King Xerxes’ empire who were brought to the royal harem to potentially become the next queen after the downfall of Queen Vashti.
The Bible tells us that before any of the women could appear before the king, each one had to undergo twelve months of beauty preparations.
Each young woman’s turn came to go in to King Ahasuerus after she had completed twelve months’ preparation, according to the regulations for the women, for thus were the days of their preparation apportioned: six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women.

The significance of Esther’s beauty preparations
It’s interesting how even though Esther was described as a beautiful and lovely woman, she still had to go through the beautification process.
This tells me that, though beautiful, she did not meet the standards of a queen.
To occupy and sustain her place of relevance, she had to go through a season of preparation which went beyond physical beauty.
The oil of myrrh
In Esther 2:12, we learn that the beauty treatments were divided in two — six months with oil of myrrh, followed by six months with special perfumes and ointments.
Myrrh is mentioned many times throughout the Bible. In fact, it is one of the gifts that was given to Jesus by the three wisemen (Mat. 2:11).
The benefits of this oil are numerous. In the book of Esther, it is especially used for purification, cleansing and healing.
Now when the turn of every maiden was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that it had been done to her according to the law for the women twelve months (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odors and with the things for the purifying of the women)

In the same way, God puts us in seasons of preparation. These seasons are meant for cleansing, purification, healing, and anointing.
A season of pruning
This is a vital season in our journey where God takes us through a refining process where He works on our character and mindset. It’s a time when He lovingly removes the things that are not of Him, such as the attitudes, habits, and attachments that hinder our growth—so that we can become the best version of ourselves.
During this season of pruning, God purifies and cleanses us by cutting away what no longer serves His purpose in our lives. Though it may feel uncomfortable at times, it is necessary for our spiritual growth, as it prepares us to bear more fruit and walk in alignment with His will.
Requirements to pass the beautification process
Surrender your will
The first step in the beautification process is to fully surrender your will to God. This means dying to the flesh and letting go of your own desires as you trust that His plan for your life is far greater than anything you could imagine.
Don’t rush God’s timing
It’s not always easy, but patience is key. In this process, it’s important not to rush God’s timing. There is beauty in the waiting, as God uses every moment to shape and mold you into the person He has called you to be. Trust that He knows the perfect time for every season in your life.
Stay in your place of assignment
Lastly, remain steadfast in your place of assignment. Whether it’s in your home, ministry, or career, God has placed you exactly where you need to be. Don’t be tempted to compare your journey to others or step out of position prematurely.
Stay rooted in your assignment so that you can receive the full refinement that God has intended for you. God’s desire is for you to grow and transform into the woman He has called you to be for His glory. Trust Him, and trust the process.

This really blessed me. I need to re-read it and really meditate on these revelations. Thank you Hadassah!
